Simon is the Advocacy and Movements Lead at the Wellbeing Economy Alliance, a founding organizational member of Stable Planet Alliance. Before joining WEAll, Simon was Oxfam International’s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean (2015-2022). He worked with Oxfam in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil and Colombia during 29 years leading campaigns, programmes and humanitarian responses.Simon studied Development Studies at East Anglia University in the UK, and has a Masters and PhD in Latin American Studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His doctoral research looked at regional development perspectives and limitations in the context of globalisation, focusing on Brazil‘s experience with the Workers’ Party governments. A Latin American specialist, Simon has lived in Latin America since 1986 and is based in Mexico.
